Lieschen has always wanted to become a teacher. After her studies in Bloem she decided to take some time to travel and work in America before following her passion. Despite a variety of opportunities to become involved in other fields, she kept saying, “No, thank you. I just want to teach!”

When Tandys started her successful family-run business with her parents in Bloemfontein a few years ago, she was still in her twenties.
She wasn’t much older than the young article clerks from nearby firms who came to her shop, London Chippy, for lunch. I remember how much she hated it when they called her “Tannie!”
On her inevitable journey from her twenties to her thirties, Tandys had to face and overcome some tough challenges. To celebrate the strong, focused woman she is today, we captured this point in her journey through the decades with some fun and beautiful images.
PS: I advise you still don’t try to call her “Tannie”.
